Gender Roles

For the first time ever, I saw a little boy with nail polish on. He was about five, and I saw him at my job last Saturday. His hand reached over the counter, and I saw his little fingers with chipped nail polish. I was shocked. Not because I think it’s unacceptable, but because I’ve never seen it before. My mindset currently is that when I have kids, they will be raised without gender roles. It was an eye awakening experience, because it lets me know the world is changing and parents are being more open. It also made me aware of the stereotypes that society has placed, so it’s natural to be shocked, because that’s the environment we were raised in. I salute his parents.
