Last night I went with my sister to see Beyond the Lights, starring Nate Parker and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. This movie was probably the best movie I’ve seen in a while. I won’t spoil the movie, but I will touch upon some of the themes I thought were powerful throughout the movie: self-love and love (in general). As you all know I’m very passionate about the concept of loving yourself, as well as others. Love is important in the development of yourself. Plus, the romance aspect of the film just drew me in. I loved this movie, and I recommend you go see it. Noni Jean’s story is one to watch, and it’s not always so beautiful (even though Gugu Mbatha-Raw is beautiful). I hope you all go see Beyond the Lights, it’s truly going to be one of my favorites.
